The Cycles of 15

On Chicken Philosophy five books rotate at the same time as the three hosts rotate, resulting in a cycle of 15 permutations of books with host.

The Cycle of 12 before there was a Cycle of 15 🐔🛞

This playlist is Rated A for Ancient, meaning this was before Secret of the Golden Flower was added to the rotation, back when there were only 4 books in the rotation. Thus, it was a cycle of 12, with the 3 hosts rotating alongside the 4 books.

The Cycle of 12 before there was a Cycle of 15 begins on February 3rd, 2024, and concludes on March 4th, 2024. The video just before was the last of the 4 recitals from the Ashtavakra Gita. Just before that was the Teilhard de Chardin episode in which Pymander, tired of expending so much energy as one of the 3 host of Chicken Philosophy, in addition to being sole host of Buddhist Books Podcast, made Gwydion come out of The Pyramid and convinced him to resume his place as host of Chicken Philosophy but, where before he had been the sole host, now he would take Pymander's place in the rotation and be one of 3 hosts. Gwydion agreed.

Then, after Martin Luther was chosen to replace Astavakra Gita in the sequence of books, Pymander created The Chicken-Wheel (which he called a "Mandala"). After this first group of 12, it continued right on into The Original 15, and it's been rolling ever since.

The Original 15 🐔🛞

Rated V-PS for Vintage Pre-Standard. Vintage meaning the books included were the original group-of-5: Jung, de Chardin, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi, and Pre-Standard meaning it doesn't start with Edward reading Jung but, rather, Edward reading Meccan Revelations, and ends with BT reading Secret of the Golden Flower.

This playlist includes Part 1 of Golden Flower, though, so it actually starts during a time when there were only 4 books and starts with the book which would later be just after Golden Flower in the line-up, so this is actually the earliest possible compilation of a Cycle-of-15, so that's pretty special.

It begins on March 13th, 2024 and concludes on April 17th, 2024.

The Dangling 6 🐔🛞

Before the Cycles-of-15 were standardized (i.e. starting with Blue & Black and ending with Yellow & Green (it's spelled with a "z" in American English, I'm not illiterate, I'm just from California)) what was I saying?

Right, so The Original 15 started in a weird place, then The Shillong 15 is the first standard Cycle-of-15... and in between there are these, The Dangling 6.

It begins on April 19th, 2024 and concludes on April 29th, 2024.

Rated V for Vintage (Jung, Teilhard, Luther, Golden Flower, Ibn Arabi).

The Shillong 15 🐔🛞

Rated V for Vintage, meaning it was the original group of 5 books. I mean, Ashtavakra Gita and Transformations were finished before this, but the first time there were 5 books rotating it was Jung, Teilhard, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi.

In May of 2024, Piyu and I spent 3 weeks in Shillong, Meghalaya, in Northeast India. While we were there, I walked around the city reading portions of Teilhard de Chardin in front of Catholic churches for Teilhard de Chardin Part 14, and Martin Luther in front of Protestant churches for Martin Luther Part 8.

Anyhow, both of those episodes are included in The Shillong 15 playlist. It begins on April 30th, 2024, and concludes on June 14th, 2024.

The Gilgamesh 15 🐔🛞

The Gilgamesh 15 begins on June 16th, 2024 and concludes on July 18th, 2024. This Cycle-of-15 Compilation Video is Rated V for Vintage, meaning it was the original group of 5 books, Jung, Teilhard, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi.

I was originally going to call this playlist "The Summer of '24 Fifteen" but thought that was boring, plus the Carl Jung Gilgamesh thread runs through it and is pretty profound, so... you know. Why not? It's a good name, after all.

Les Sauvages 15 🐔🛞

Rated V for Vintage, meaning it was the original group of 5 books, Jung, Teilhard, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi. Les Sauvages 15 begins on July 23rd, 2024 and concludes on Sep 2nd, 2024.

If you're curious about the reason for the title of this particular cycle-of-15 ("Les Sauvages 15") it'll make sense within the first 5 minutes of watching the compilation video. 😉

The Turning 46 Fifteen 🐔🛞

This was the Cycle-of-15 just before the Color-Wheel-15, so it was originally called "The Pre-C.W.F. 15" but that's not a very good name. Then it occurred to me that my 46th birthday happened during this cycle, so I thought the new title would be nice, especially since there's an End of 46 and a Beginning of 47 Cycle-of-15.

It begins on September 5th, 2024, and concludes on October 11th, 2024.

The Color-Wheel 15 🐔🛞

Rated V&R for Vintage & Retro: Vintage meaning it starts with the original 5-book line-up: Jung, de Chardin, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi. Retro meaning Nag Hammadi replaced de Chardin, which happens *during* this Cycle-of-15.

Alongside the particular parts of those books covered in these 15 episodes was *the* deep-dive into the 15 color-combinations produced by the Chicken-Wheel, the Black, Purple, Orange, White, and Green outer-petals which are the 5 books, and the Blue, Red, and Yellow of the inner petals which are the 3 primary hosts of Chicken Philosophy, Edward, Gwydion, and Frater BT.

It begins on October 15th, 2024, and concludes on November 10th, 2024.

The November '24 Fifteen 🐔🛞

Rated R for Retro, meaning it was when the 5 books were Jung, Nag Hammadi, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi, after the Teilhard de Chardin was finished.

It begins on November 11th, 2024, and concludes on December 3rd, 2024.

The Christmas of '24 Fifteen 🐔🛞

Rated R for Retro, meaning the line-up was Jung, Nag Hammadi, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi, so this was after we finished the de Chardin. It begins on December 4th, 2024, and concludes on December 31st, 2024.

Fun fact: when I recorded and uploaded the 15th of this cycle of 15 I was unaware that it would be the last episode recorded in our old place in Majorda, South Goa, where Chicken Philosophy first began. This Cycle-of-15 came just before The In-Between 15.

The In-Between 15 🐔🛞

This one begins on December 31st, 2024, and concludes on January 25th, 2025.

Just before New Year's '25, the landlord down in Majorda got a screaming puppy and tied it to a short rope outside our window, so we couldn't sleep. This was the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back," as there was already a long list of things the landlord was doing, or had done, in addition to, and including, living downstairs from us in the first place (big mistake, don't be neighbors with your landlord, if you can avoid it).

Anyway, it just so happened that I'd just completed a cycle of 15, now the playlist "Christmas of '24 Fifteen." So, the Black and Blue was at Yu Hotel in Candolim, where we celebrated New Year's Day.

Red and Purple was also in that same hotel room, but a different part of the room. Yellow and Orange was at Casa Terrazzo, I think is how you spell it, an AirBnB in the French Quarter (?) near, or in, Porvorim or whatever.

Blue and White was in there too, but in a cute room where Pymander took over the show, in spite of the trickstery thumbnail.

Red and Green was at Villa Sangolda in front of the Banyan Tree.

Yellow & Black was there too, mostly in the front entry area, but with a tour of the place involved.

Blue & Purple, Red & Orange, Yellow & White, Blue & Green, Red & Black, Yellow & Purple, and Blue & Orange were all back at Terrazzo, with the Terrace (hence the name) in various rooms, with various angles and such.

Red & White was at Nirvana Hill in South Goa:

...where we stayed a night with some dear friends who were going to help us move, then we moved into our new place in Porvorim, where the final Yellow & Green was filmed, before the new office-temple had been set up, but in the room where Chicken Philosophy would resume, with the same books in the same bookshelf, but slightly different lighting and sound ambience, on account of the different shape and materials and all, but without the terrible dog that was there in Majorda (different from the new puppy, the landlord's old blind dog who was way too loud and way too close and often disrupted episodes prior to this cycle of 15.)

The Porvorim 15 🐔🛞

Rated R for Retro, meaning it was when the 5 books were Jung, Nag Hammadi, Luther, Golden Flower, and Ibn Arabi, after the Teilhard de Chardin was finished.

The Porvorim 15 begins on January 28th, 2025, and concludes on February 20th, 2025. The title might have been "The Mostly February '25 Fifteen" or "The New Place 15," but in the future we might shift to another new place (who knows?) so I didn't want to singulari(z/s)e that concept with a "the" so... it's our new place in Porvorim. Presumably, if we move again, it won't be to a place in Porvorim. It's a pretty safe bet, I think.

Into Spring of '25 Fifteen begins on February 22nd, 2025, and concludes on April 6th, 2025.

The Mid-Twenty-Five Fifteen 🐔🛞

Rated R&PP for Retro & Pre-Pyching meaning this Cycle-of-15 starts out in the "Retro" category, meaning the 5 books still included Secret of the Golden Flower, then partway through we finish that and begin Tao Te Ching.

It begins on May 22nd, 2025, and concludes on June 23rd, 2025.

The Summer of '25 Fifteen 🐔🛞

Rated PP for Pre-Pyching meaning this Cycle-of-15 was during the brief period where we had finished Secret of the Golden Flower but hadn't yet begun I Ching or The Divine Pymander, and were reading Tao Te Ching for the white petal.

It begins on June 26th, 2025, and concludes on August 8th, 2025.

The End of 46 Fifteen 🐔🛞

Rated PP for Pre-Pyching, this was the last complete Cycle-of-15 produced while I was 46 years old.
